Introduction

The Port of Civitavecchia is often hailed as the gateway to the eternal city of Rome. Established by the visionary Emperor Trajan in the years 106-108 AD, this historic port stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Apollodorus of Damascus, the mastermind behind its creation. Nestled along the European and Mediterranean port group, Civitavecchia is more than just a maritime terminal; it is a living chronicle of ancient ingenuity and modern connectivity of cultures.

Affectionately dubbed as the "Motorways of the Sea," the Port of Civitavecchia plays a pivotal role in facilitating maritime trade and travel. Serving as the principal terminal for a myriad of cruise lines, it has earned its reputation as the largest and most prominent cruise port in proximity to Rome.
